Imagine waking up one day and deciding to hit reset on your life. You sell your house, your car, your furniture, your appliances and nearly all of your clothes. You say goodbye to the ones you love and move to a new place to start fresh. Part-nomad, part-homebody, you pick an alternative place to live… maybe a micro home, a boat, an underground house or even a camper van.

Just the idea is enough to make some people give up everything they know and set off on an adventure. For others, the thought of leaving all their 21st century creature comforts behind is enough to induce a panic attack! But one thing’s for sure, an idea like this doesn’t leave anyone feeling indifferent—especially in 2020, when the minimalist trend is gaining momentum every day across North America.

Adventurer Julien Roussin Côté didn’t only contemplate this idea… he went ahead and did it! And now he travels across Canada in his camper van, looking for individuals and communities who are daring to live their lives in a different way. People who’ve made the decision to live more with less, whether for human, social, economic, familial or environmental reasons. People who have decided they don’t want to wait until retirement to follow their life dreams, and who’ve realized there has to be more to life than the daily grind of home-work-bed-repeat.

Armed with his atypical upbringing and a deep-rooted desire to connect with people who are daring to live more with less, Julien takes us on a journey to discover the inspiring stories of individuals, couples, friends, families and communities who’ve made the choice to live life on their own terms. Whether they’re travelling nomads or living in alternative static homes, all of these people have one thing in common: they’re living life on their own terms.
